The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the second batch of nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu but rejected Engineer Olalere Odusote and Mr. Sam Egube.

It also put on hold the confirmation of Honourable Tolani Akibu.

The confirmation was done through a voice vote as the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa mentioned the names of the nominees.

The lawmakers unanimously rejected the two names and put on hold one name, saying it would be revisited later.

Obasa, who commended the committee led by the Chief Whip, Fatai Mojeed asked the clerk, Olalekan Onafeko to send the list of the nominees to Governor Sanwo-Olu.

The nominees confirmed on Thursday were Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Professor Akinola Abayomi, Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashola, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medem, Mr. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe and Cecelia Dada.

The others are Mr. Olugbenga Omotoso, Mrs. Barakat Akande Bakare, Mr. Mosopefolu George, Mr Yekini Agbaje, Dr. Olumide Oluyinka, Mr. Abayomi Oluyomi, Dr. Iyabode Ayoola and Honourable Sola Shakirudeen Giwa.

Sanwo-Olu had presented 18 nominees to the Assembly on Monday after 17 nominees had earlier been rejected by the House.

The rejection of the 17 commissioner-nominees was induced by political calculations, according to political commentator, George Ogbolu.

Ogbolu, the managing editor at Naija News, made the comment during an Ikeja Record X/Twitter Space anchored by co-editor of The Record, Abel Adekunle on Tuesday.
