The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed the Nigerian solo traveller and content creator, Pelumi Nubi as the new Lagos Tourism Ambassador.
Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Sanwo-Olu announced this in a tweet on Monday, stating that she also got a brand new car, a new home in Lagos, and a customised plate number as gifts from the Lagos State Governor.
Nubi arrived in Lagos on Sunday after embarking on a historic road trip from her second home in London, United Kingdom, to her first home in Lagos, Nigeria.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including a car crash and being detained at the Sierra Leone border for two days, Pelumi Nubi successfully completed her 68-day solo journey, making history by arriving in Lagos, Nigeria on April 7, 2024.
“She is donating her vehicle (the one she used for the trip) to our Brand New J Randle Center for Yoruba Culture and History as a monumental gift to Lagos State.
”When Governor of Lagos, Mr @jidesanwoolu named @peluminubi_ as a Lagos Tourism Ambassador, the State will take over her entire bill for the trip, she gets a brand new car, an apartment in Lagos. Pelumi was so overwhelmed,” Gawat shared in his tweet.
