In a decisive move to protect lives and property, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed off the Ikeja Golf Club, following a series of incidents that highlighted ongoing safety risks posed by the club’s operations.
According to the statement, the LASBCA general manager, Gbolahan Oki, the closure comes after a recent incident in which a golf ball struck a LASBCA staff member at the agency’s headquarters in Ikeja.
“In addition to this unfortunate incident, there have been multiple cases of errant golf balls causing damage to vehicles in the vicinity,” he added.
In light of these reports and incidents, LASBCA has cited the club for failing to implement adequate safety measures to contain golfing activities within its boundaries.
“Public safety is a priority for us, and any facility that poses a risk to residents and visitors in Lagos State will be held accountable,” the agency noted.
