3. Lagos marathon of dreams
The Access Bank Lagos City marathon was held on Saturday, February 10, and was a thrilling experience for most Lagosians who participated in the event and got to realize their various fitness and long-distance racing dreams. 4. Styrofoam clean-up
The Lagos State Government has commenced clearing of Five Cowrie Creek of marine waste, especially Styrofoam and other single-use materials in the State. The Record reported that the ban was placed because of the environmental impact of the material on the environment.
5. Environmental regeneration
Worried by the negative branding of illegal habitation and unsanctioned commercial activities going on under major bridges in Lagos State, the State Government has undertaken a clean-up exercise which will be followed by a beautification exercise, The Record reports.

6. Lingering dispute over industrial waste
Residents of Millennium Estate in the Gbagada area of Lagos have been at loggerheads with management of Premier Polypack over industrial waste, which has caused damage to their buildings and also increased noise pollution in the area. The Record reports that the Lagos State Government is mediating in the dispute.
7. Fire emergency awareness
The Record reported that the Lagos Fire Service has increased awareness on safety to prevent fire disasters in public places, especially markets, churches and event centres.
8. LASEPA on the roll
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed business premises in Ikotun, Ojodu Berger and Isheri Olofin areas, for environmental pollution. The affected business include Impress Hotel and Event, Chopee Foods, Ezeudokanma Bar, Empire Spot Bar Night Life, and the Celestial Church of Christ, which were shut for breaking extant environmental laws.
9. Boy, 13, defiles girl
An Ikeja chief magistrate’s court has remanded a 13-year-old boy in a Borstal correctional centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter, The Cable reports
