FULL LIST: Local Government Areas most affected by cholera outbreak in Lagos

The Lagos state government has revealed the locations most affected by the recent cholera outbreak.

According to the commissioner for health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Lagos Island, as of Monday, has the highest number of suspected cases (106 out of 350).

As quoted in a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report, Prof. Abayomi noted that the local government areas affected and their number of cases in no particular order, include:

  1. Lagos Island – 106
  2. Kosofe – 49
  3. Eti-Osa – 38
  4. Lagos Mainland – 30
  5. Ojo – 17
  6. Ikorodu – 16
  7. Kosofe – 16
  8. Shomolu – 11
  9. Surulere – 9
  10. Apapa – 8
  11. Mushin – 8
  12. Ifako Ijaiye – 8
  13. Mushin – 5
  14. Alimosho – 4
  15. Ajeromi Ifelodun – 4
  16. Oshodi-Isolo – 3
  17. Ikeja – 3
  18. Ibeju Lekki – 2
  19. Badagry – 2
  20. Amuwo-Odofin – 1

Meanwhile, the commissioner noted that community-based case finding and contact tracing appear to have been effective as the number of cases appear to have peaked “and is now significantly declining.”

He also said the government is intensifying its public health prevention campaigns to prevent a resurgence in cholera cases.
