Faleke, Adebule empower over 3,000 residents with skills and grants

Federal lawmaker James Faleke and Senator Idiat Adebule have collectively trained and empowered over 3,000 constituents in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos West Senatorial District.

Why it matters: The initiatives provided vocational skills, starter packs, and grants to combat poverty and unemployment. These programs aim to address economic challenges by equipping residents with practical skills for self-reliance. The empowerment initiatives align with the state government’s broader goal of fostering entrepreneurship and reducing unemployment.

Go deeper: Faleke, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, trained 2,100 participants in fish farming in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research. Each beneficiary received a certificate and an N80,000 startup grant. Meanwhile, Senator Adebule, representing Lagos West, empowered 1,000 constituents with vocational skills in areas like fashion, barbing, and confectionery. Beneficiaries were provided with essential starter packs, including sewing machines, clippers, and cooking wares.

Quote: “One thousand youths and women will be leaving unemployment to become self-employed and contribute to economic development,” said Adebule. “It is my joy to put smiles on the faces of people, irrespective of tribe, religion, and political affiliation,” Faleke said.
