In compliance with Lagos State law protecting the rights of people with special needs, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed the KFC facility at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, following reports of discriminatory treatment towards a Passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM).
The decision came swiftly after a physically challenged person, Mr Adebola Daniel raised concerns on social media about discriminatory treatment experienced at the KFC branch. Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the MD/CE of FAAN, took prompt action by deploying a management team to investigate the allegations.
The investigative team, led by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, along with other senior officials, confirmed the incident and recommended the closure of the KFC facility where the discrimination occurred.
FAAN in a statement issued via its official X account mandated the KFC management to issue a written apology to the affected PRM and to prominently display a policy statement of non-discrimination at their facility in MMIA before resuming operations.
Expressing remorse, FAAN apologised to the affected individual and affirmed its commitment to upholding the rights of all airport users, promising continued efforts to prevent any infringement of passenger rights in the future.
