Eni’s restaurant, a hidden gem for all in Maryland, Lagos

Restaurants are a window into the gastronomy offering of a people, and a delightful dining experience gives you leaves you wanting for me. This is the promise of Eni’s Restaurant and it delivers in good measure.

I discovered Eni’s restaurant and lounge on Twitter through Chef Human, the Sous Chef. His vivid portrayal of the dishes he prepared at the restaurant piqued my interest, prompting me to pay a visit.

Eni’s is a casual dining spot where simplicity meets sophistication. With a laid-back, family-friendly ambiance, it offers an affordable menu for those seeking a straightforward yet exquisite dining adventure in Lagos.

Located at 37, Ajose Street, Maryland, the restaurant’s small but quaint space immediately captured my attention.

A patio on the left provides outdoor lounge, and there’s a grill section for those craving grilled meals. Adjacent to the entrance, another patio serves as a mini bar, offering signature cocktails and drinks.

Inside, the restaurant boasts two rooms with fancy dining tables and chairs. I was welcomed with complimentary fresh oven-baked butter cookies, a delightful start to my culinary experience.

The menu, featuring items like sizzling pizzas, seafood pineapple fried rice, grilled tilapia fish and chips, and Nigerian breakfast options, ensures a straightforward selection process with flavours that are anything but uncomplicated.

A collage of the meal I ate at Eni’s restaurant.

The Head Chef, Chef Anani, recommended the Screaming Orgasm cocktail and barbecued chicken wings as a starter. The wings were juicy and tender, and the portion surprised me with four or five substantial pieces.

For the main course, I opted for the Asun jollof rice, a perfect blend of spicy jollof rice with ample diced goat meat, accompanied by fried plantains. I enjoyed a simple Chapman mocktail alongside my meal.

Chef Anani emphasised their dedication to customer service while speaking to The Record, sharing how she would prepare another meal from scratch if she notices the initial order has a fault.

“This is why we haven’t had any negative review yet,” she said.

The restaurant’s cleanliness stood out, with a dedicated cleaner maintaining a tidy space. You’ll rarely spot any flies buzzing through the air, ensuring a clean and pleasant dining experience.

Beyond the culinary experience, Eni’s organises community events such as movie nights, costume parties, karaoke, and game nights, showcasing a commitment to both cuisine and community.
