The court of appeal in Lagos has dismissed the suit filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulazeez Adediran popular known as Jandor against the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The justices of the court of appeal – Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola and Justice Paul Bassey, in a unanimous decision upheld the Governor’s victory as it dismissed the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for lack of merit.
In September, the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal had dismissed the petition of Adediran and that of the Labour Party (LP) candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour challenging the victory of Governor Sanwoolu in the March 17, Gubernatorial election in the state.
Delivering its judgment, the tribunal reiterated its earlier judgment that the issue of nomination of candidates was a pre-election issue with jurisdiction on the same vested in only the Federal High Court.
