Seven factors that stand Ikeja out as a choice neighbourhood for Lagosians

When you set foot in Ikeja, you have come into a city in Lagos that is home to nearly half a million people from all walks of life and possibly every tribe in Nigeria.

For many reasons, the state has Ikeja to show as the Centre of Excellence. Some residents of the state’s capital even claim it is the best neighbourhood they know.

And here are at least 7 reasons they make such a claim:

1. Centrality

From Ikeja, you can get to parts of Lagos because it occupies a central spot in the state’s geography, and as such, the place can serve as your compass home in case you lose your way.

Added to this many government officials work in Ikeja because it also houses the Lagos Secretariat and the governor’s office among others.

2. Security

While the city is not heaven, the fact that the city hosts an airforce base, a military base, a police college, the Nigerian Immigration Service, and security companies makes it largely secure for most of the day.

3. Transportation

Aside from the impressive road network that connects the city with its environs, Ikeja has both local and international airports.

4. Nightlife

If you enjoy night outings, like a city that never sleeps, there are many locations that you will find enjoyable in Ikeja from luxurious and eventful nightclubs to state-of-the-art bars, pubs, game houses and eateries.

But if you want to have outdoor fun in some culinary adventures, try visiting some suya spots, among other breathtaking delicacies that will blow your palate away.

5. Shopping

Is grocery shopping your thing? If yes, then get to the popular Shoprite in Ikeja along Obafemi Awolowo Way and shop for almost all your home commodities. There, you find many avenues for socialising as many people come around for similar interests.

Also, the popular Computer Village in Ikeja comes in very handy whenever you intend to shop for electronics and home appliances of all kinds.

6. Employment/workspace

Due to its industrial nature, many companies have their offices and factories in Ikeja and as such, job seekers often go there to find employment opportunities.

As an employer or an entrepreneur, you can rent conducive workspaces or offices for your organisations in the city.

7. Electricity

Although the Nigerian factor cannot be completely ruled out when it comes to power outages in Ikeja, the recent addition of more feeders to Ikeja Electric’s Band A network has made the electricity supply in the local government area much better than it used to be.
