The Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound lane of the Third Mainland Bridge will be officially closed by 11:00 am today, Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
This partial closure marks the continuation of repairs the Federal Ministry of Works started on the bridge in November 2023. According to a statement by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Olukorede Kesha, the closure is expected to last 6-7 weeks.
To minimize traffic disruption and ensure seamless movement, the Lagos State Government has outlined the following travel arrangements as follows:
“12:00 am – 12:00 pm: Bridge traffic will be directed mainland-bound towards the Island. Those intending to travel from the Island to the Mainland during this period are advised to use the Eko Bridge.
“12:00 pm – 12:00 am: Bridge traffic will be reversed, allowing for movement from the Island to the Mainland. Mainland-bound commuters should prioritize alternative routes like the Eko Bridge during this time.”
Officials said the closure and opening times were chosen to align with peak traffic patterns and minimize congestion.
